My Conscience Told Me To Do It

I hadn't even thought about Scooter in a couple weeks or so. But then, the other day, I was at some event singing the Pledge of Allegiance or something, and there was suddenly this voice in my head telling me to pardon Scooter Libby. "Pardon Scooter... pardon Scooter... before it's too late... before it's too late..." the voice kept repeating over and over.

It got me thinking. And I know that that voice in my head is usually right. Telling me the right thing to do. I knew I should trust that voice in my head. And so I turned around and asked my number-one guy, Dick Chaney, what he thought. He said pardoning Scooter hadn't occurred to him, but that it sounded like another one of my good ideas. He said he'd take care of it, that it could be a simple commuting of his sentence or something like that. And that's pretty much how the whole thing happened.
